Chelsea’s Hope Donation Letter from Ryan

My name is Ryan Consentino. I have been a member of MGA Links at Mamantapett, Norton, MA since 2005 and a member of The First Tee Program since 2006. I am also a senior on the Varsity Golf Team at North High School. I am currently organizing the First Golf for Epilepsy tournament at the MGA Links. The Tournament is a four-person scramble to be held on June 30th at MGA Links at 1 p.m. This charity event will be benefiting Chelsea’s Hope, a charity committed to funding research for Lafora Progressive Myclonic Epilepsy, a rare type of Epilepsy. This form of epilepsy affects only adolescents, and is characterized by seizures, muscle spasms, difficulty walking, and dementia. As of now, there is no cure, and, upon diagnosis, patients are given five to ten years to live. My cousin, Mallorie, was recently diagnosed with this disease, and we, as a family and as a community, wish to support this charity in finding a cure and in their work helping adolescents struggling with this disease. The Epilepsy Foundation does not support research for this specific and rare form of Epilepsy and Lafora is referred to as an orphan disease as it also does not receive government funding, which makes fundraisers like mine even more crucial to the cause. The tournament would appreciate any type of donation, from food to supplies, baskets for a raffle, or even a monetary donation. Additionally, providing a monetary donation of $50 or more will award an advertisement on the hole of your choosing. However, any donation, regardless of size, is highly appreciated. Our goal is to be able to donate $3,000 or more directly to Chelsea’s Hope.

Fundraising success on June 30th 2012 with $4,610.00 being raised for Chelsea’s Hope!

We would like to acknowledge Ryan Cosentino for making a difference in his community and ours by raising awareness about Lafora Disease. Ryan proved that through his love for cousin, Mallorie, his passion for golf, a great idea, and lots of supportive friends and family, great success can be achieved.

A big thank you goes out to Ryan for taking a stand against Lafora Disease by stepping forward in a big way. Thanks also to all the golfers and supporters that led to the success of this event. We’d like to wish Ryan great success in his future golf endeavors!
