The 9th Annual Lafora Disease Science Symposium will be in San Diego from September 23-25, 2024.
The Symposium will be hybrid, so you can attend in person or remotely. All registrants will receive exclusive access to the recordings of the Symposium sessions after the event. This is a valuable resource for families affected by Lafora, researchers, healthcare professionals, and our industry partners, ensuring that the knowledge shared at the conference is accessible to all.
In-person attendance includes dinner on Monday (with special registration), all meals on Tuesday, and breakfast on Wednesday. Chelsea’s Hope has a room block at Estancia La Jolla if you want to reserve a room through us. Find more details below!

Programming overview:
- Monday, September 23, 2024, from 1:30 pm – 6 pm. Check-in will begin at 12:30 pm PT.
- Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 8:30 am – 6 pm PT.
- Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 8:30 am – 11:30 am PT.

Poster Submission
Submit Your Poster!
We will have a poster session during the second day of the Symposium. If you would like to present a poster, please fill out the Poster Presenter Request Form by August 1st. Posters should be no larger than 48 inches tall and 70 inches wide to fit on the easels. If you have any questions about the poster session, please contact our Science Director, Dr. Kit Donohue, at katherine@chelseashope.org.

Please join us on Monday, September 23rd, after the 2024 Lafora Science Symposium’s first day to acknowledge our history and milestones. This year marks 15 years as a 501(c)(3), so we seek to celebrate our progress and honor the Gerber family and other founders.
Symposium attendees are all invited to the special dinner. Please register separately because it will be a ticketed event open to the public. We are also extending invitations to our community and supporters in the Southern California area.
