The 11th Annual Lafora Disease Science Symposium will be held October 19-21, 2026, hosted by Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas.

The Symposium will be hybrid, so you can attend online. All registrants will receive exclusive access to the recordings of the Symposium sessions after the event.

The recordings are a valuable resource for families affected by Lafora, researchers, healthcare professionals, and our industry partners, ensuring that the knowledge shared at the conference is accessible to all.

In-person registration closed September 15th.

State Fair of Texas

“The State Fair of Texas is a huge annual event that runs from September 25 through October 18. For those who have never seen such a thing, it would be worth coming in a day or two early to see it.”

Fort Worth Stockyards

About a 45-minute drive from Dallas, the Fort Worth Stockyards are a historic district and tourist attraction. They will host a Championship Rodeo on October 17th and 18th.

Then, the Stockyards Showcase event opens on October 22, featuring bull riding among other activities. Check out their shops and events here. >

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Dr. Cotton shared, “The dinosaurs that lived here are quite different than the ones you’ve seen elsewhere and the Perot Museum has put an emphasis on showing our locally discovered fossils, including some that look like massive alligator-type creatures. In addition, the Perot Museum has a fascinating space exhibit and a whole floor dedicated to modern advances in medicine. It is a must-see for all.”
