Dr. Cotton is a board-certified anesthesiologist with expertise in clinical medicine, corporate healthcare, and medical research. She practices at a trauma hospital in Dallas, Texas, and holds a PhD in molecular genetics from UT Southwestern, where the Lafora Safety Study is underway. With an MD, PhD, and MBA, she brings diverse skills to the Chelsea’s Hope Board of Directors.

After selling her medical practice to a national anesthesia group, Dr. Cotton now serves on their Clinical Governance Board in North Texas, ensuring high-quality, fiscally responsible patient care. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Cotton is passionate about promoting women in medicine. She counsels underrepresented youth on career development and is an “experience ambassador” for her company’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She has also taught molecular pharmacology as an adjunct professor at UTSW Medical School.

As an advocate for healthcare policy, Dr. Cotton served as a delegate for the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists (TSA) for seven years, contributing to the TSA’s Patient Safety Board and Practice Management Council. Most recently, she joined their Government Affairs Advisory Committee. Her leadership spans medicine, research, business, and policy, offering a unique perspective to the Lafora Board, where she aspires to advance Chelsea’s Hope’s mission, supporting cutting-edge research, translating scientific findings into meaningful clinical advancements, and bringing hope to Lafora families.

Dr. Cotton has three daughters and resides in Dallas with her husband and two German Shepherds.
